This Fig Tree home was upgraded into a fully electric, solar-powered household by Innovate Energy. The goal was to eliminate gas, reduce energy bills and future-proof the home while maintaining year-round comfort. Instead of simply adding solar, the project focused on electrifying all major systems so the home could generate, store and use its own clean energy. The homeowner’s experience and the challenges involved are explained in the project video below:
The system includes 11 JA Solar Deep Blue 440W panels, a Sungrow SH5.0RS inverter and a large Sungrow SBR192 19.2kWh battery. This allows the home to generate power during the day and store excess energy for use in the evening, significantly reducing reliance on the grid and keeping high-demand appliances running on solar energy.
Gas hot water was replaced with an Apricus heat pump system, which uses ambient air and electricity instead of gas, making it highly efficient and ideal for solar-powered homes. An induction cooktop was also installed, allowing cooking to be powered by clean electricity while improving safety and performance in the kitchen.
For whole-home heating and cooling, a Fujitsu 15.5kW reverse cycle ducted air-conditioning system was installed, providing efficient climate control throughout the house. Combined with the solar and battery system, the home can now enjoy comfort day and night while drawing far less power from the grid.
The result is a gas-free, future-ready home that runs on its own renewable energy, delivering lower energy costs, greater independence and a more sustainable lifestyle.
